Mount Smutwood

Kananaskis, Canadian Rockies

"The earth has music for those who listen.”

— William Shakespeare -

Mount Smutwood delivers one of those rare approaches where every step feels like a reward. The trail winds past waterfalls, shimmering lakes, and quiet forest before breaking into a dramatic alpine ridge with jaw‑dropping views of Mt. Birdwood and the Birdwood Lakes.

From there, the summit ridge offers a gorgeous, lightly exposed scramble—never overly technical but engaging enough to keep things exciting. Expect a bit of route‑finding, some loose rock, and steep sections that make the final push feel both rewarding and memorable.
