Rock Rescue

This course has been designed to give you the tools to solve potential mishaps that you could face while rock climbing.
Rock rescue covers simple scenarios such as a cut in the rope to more complex situations where you need to be ready to act fast, effectively while staying safe.
You will learn the various forces, specific techniques at play when you change your climbing systems to rescue mode including specific knots, braking needs as well as rope and system limitations.
This is a full day in the field following a well-established curriculum, but it is flexible to accommodate students of all levels of knowledge and experience.
During this intensive training you will learn a variety of rock rescue techniques such as:
Knots, Ropes & Systems
Knots to be used with a rescue scenario.
Rope use and limitations on rescue scenarios.
Anchor escape & belaying techniques on rescue scenarios.
Managing the friction on a brake.
Back up systems.
Emergency Techniques
Rescue gear
Techniques used to raise a person.
Techniques used to lower a person.
Different rappel techniques.
How to access someone when the rope has tension.
Techniques required to ascend a rope.
Planning for Safety
Planning for the worst case but enjoying the best.
Accessing the situation.
How to determine the best response plan.
Do I need help?
