Castle Mountain
Banff National Park, Canadian Rockies
"To travel is to live.”
— Hans Christian Andersen -
Castle Mountain has captured the imagination of Bow Valley visitors since the earliest human presence. From the highway it appears steep and imposing, yet there is a surprising route that weaves through its rugged terrain.
By ascending to the broad middle shoulder, known as the Goat Plateau, you break through the fortress‑like cliffs and step into a landscape few people ever see, rewarded with sweeping views and a uniquely wild, seldom‑visited environment.
